Sir Tom taught us about Protocols.

A protocol is a set of rules that governs the
communications between computers on a
network.
Types of Protocols:

1.Internet Protocol-is the primary network protocol used on the Internet and many other networks
used together with the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP).

2.Transmission Control Protocol-is connection-oriented network protocol used the web,
email, remote administration and file transfer.

3.User Datagram Protocol-is a connectionless-oriented network protocol that allows computer applications to send messages to other hosts IP network.
4.File Transfer Protocol-is a standard network protocol that transfer files from one host to another
host like the Internet.
5.Simple Mail Transfer Protocol- Electronic mail (e-mail) transmission across IP networks.

6.Hypertext Transfer Protocol-is an application protocol for distributed, collaborative, hypermedia
information systems.
7.Address Resolution Protocol-is a protocol used for resolution of addresses into link layer addresses.
8.Internet Control Message Protocol- It is used by network devices, like routers, to send error messages indicating, for example, that a requested service is not available or that a host or router could not be reached.

9.Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol-can automatically and dynamically get an IP address.
